FLORIAN PALIER
"Florian Palier is one of the most fascinating voices on the contemporary European guitar scene...
...what a rich and sophisticated range of sounds he coaxes from his guitar!"
(Klassiek Centraal)

"...he acts above all as a gripping storyteller who, in addition to his lively temperament, has also mastered the art of immersing himself in sadness."
(Kleine Zeitung)
Austrian guitarist and composer Florian Palier discovered his love of music at an early age. His first teacher was his father, Johann Palier. In June 2015, he graduated with honours from Alvaro Pierri's class at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
As a composer, performer and improviser, Florian Palier attaches particular importance to bringing together different musical worlds. His repertoire ranges from Renaissance compositions to classical, romantic and improvised music to contemporary music. As a soloist and chamber musician, he is regularly invited to concerts around the world.
In the field of new music, he has played with ensembles such as Klangforum Wien and the RSO Wien and regularly premieres works dedicated to him as a soloist.
His compositions, which are performed and recorded from Japan to the Netherlands, receive excellent reviews. Dušan Bogdanović, for example, wrote about his ‘Sonatina’: ‘Your Sonatina (...) is very nice, it's new and follows new paths. It's harmonically and formally sophisticated. Congratulations!’
Florian Palier teaches a guitar class at the Gustav Mahler Private University in Klagenfurt and is a regular guest lecturer at master classes at renowned music academies and music festivals worldwide. He was a long-time assistant to Álvaro Pierri at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
Florian Palier has won numerous competitions at home and abroad, with over 20 first prizes. Concerts, radio and television recordings (ORF, BBC, Classic Fm, etc.) have taken him throughout Europe, Russia, the Middle East, the USA, Japan and Taiwan.
